Five Things, July 23: Cruise Night, Botanical Garden Tour and More

Today is Tuesday, July 23, 2013 and here are five things you should know about.

Disabilities Commission Forum: From 4-6 p.m. this evening at South Kingstown Public Library (1075 Kingstown Rd,. Peace Dale), the Perspectives Corporation will host a public forum conducted by the Governor's Commission on Disabilities. At the forum, residents with disabilities and their families will have an opportunity to share their needs and desires with government representatives. Everyone is welcome to attend the forum and to voice their concerns.

SK Farmers' Market: Skip the grocery store tonight and pick up some fresh fruits, veggies and baked goods at South Kingstown's outdoor Farmers' Market at Marina Park! From 2-6 p.m. each Tuesday through October, the Park will host the community market that also offers plants, handmade handbags and more. Click here for more information and to view a list of featured vendors.

Classic Car Cruise Night: Tonight beginning at 5 p.m. until dusk, the Village at South County Commons (South County Commons Way, Route 1, SK), will host a free Classic Car Cruise Night, complete with a DJ, food, beverages and a 50/50 raffle! Restaurants and shops in the Commons will be open throughout the event, also.

South County Photo Contest: Share your favorite South County moments captured in time by entering your local photos in this year's Annual South County Photo Contest!  Be it of people, places, or events; of any season; of Charlestown, Coventry, E. Greenwich, Exeter, Hopkinton, Narragansett, N. Kingstown, Richmond, S. Kingstown, W. Greenwich, or Westerly - enter to win the 1st Place $1,000 cash prize, $500 second place cash prize, $250 third place cash prize or one of five Runner-Up $50 prizes! Botanical Garden Tour: From 5-6 p.m. this evening and every Tuesday through September, a guided tour of the URI Botanical Gardens and Horridge Conservatory will be offered by the University. Take a stroll through the garden with Head Gardener Gabrielle Torphy and Brian Maynard, Professor of Horticulture. Participants will meet at 5 p.m. at the Outreach Center Gazebo (3 East Alumni Ave., Kingston). Suggested donation is $5, children under 14 are free.
