Five Things, July 17: Ballroom Dancing, Food Trucks and More

Today is Wednesday, July 17, 2013 and here are five things you should know about.


Cooling Centers: Narragansett and South Kingstown officials have designated multiple locations throughout the area as Cooling Centers for residents who need a place to escape the heat. Click here for locations and times.

Ballroom Dance Lessons: Tonight and every Wednesday evening year-round, The Towers in Narragansett offers dance lessons led by instructors Sara Barker and Sue Davis. Ballroom lessons are held at 6 and 7 p.m., Tango at 8 p.m., followed by an open practice for all from 9-10:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per person for Ballroom or Tango, or $22 per person for a full evening. South County Photo Contest: Share your favorite South County moments captured in time by entering your local photos in this year's Annual South County Photo Contest!  Be it of people, places, or events; of any season; of Charlestown, Coventry, E. Greenwich, Exeter, Hopkinton, Narragansett, N. Kingstown, Richmond, S. Kingstown, W. Greenwich, or Westerly - enter to win the 1st Place $1,000 cash prize, $500 second place cash prize, $250 third place cash prize or one of five Runner-Up $50 prizes! Food Trucks at the Beach: Head to Narragansett Town Beach tonight from 6 - 10 p.m. for dinner from some of the regions local food trucks. Vendors include Eddie's BBQ, Go-Spresso, Pizza by Fire, Roxy's Lobster, Shuckin' Truck, and Blue Lobster.

Networking Golf Tourney: The Southern RI Chamber of Commerce and South Kingstown Lions Club have partnered to present their 2013 Golf Tournament and Networking Extravaganza on July 18 (rain date, July 25). The event will take place at the Rose Hill Golf Club (222 Rose Hill Rd., SK). Registration may take place anytime before 1:15 p.m. to ensure a prompt shotgun start at 1:30. A putting contest with a 50/50 and Hole-in-One-Prize will follow, as well as the networking portion of the evening from 5-7 p.m. Click here for registration info.
