Five Things, July 12: Meditation Workshop, RI Philharmonic and More

Today is Friday, July 12, 2013 and here are five things you should know about.

SRICC Networking Event/Blood Drive: Stop by this morning's Southern RI Chamber of Commerce event at The Right Click (35 South County Commons Way, Unit D3, SK), featuring coffee, networking and blood donations! Join members of the SRICC and staff from The Right Click and Rhode Island Blood Center from 8-9 a.m. for a morning of networking, refreshments and door prizes. Admission is $5 or free with a blood donation. (Blood drive will run from 8-11 a.m.) 

Afternoon Book Discussion: The Peace Dale Library Afternoon Book Group will meet today at 2 p.m. (1057 Kingstown Rd., Peace Dale), to discuss The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win World War II by Denise Kiernan. Copies are available at the Library and new discussers are always welcome! For more information, call Jessica Wilson, 789-1555 ext. 110.

Meditation Workshop: From 3-4 p.m. today at the Narragansett Library (35 Kingstown Rd.), join Dr. Celina Pereira, a URI staff physician and co-founder of the University's Stress Reduction and Wellness Program, for a free meditation workshop. All are welcome to stop by and learn meditation techniques to reduce stress and improve health. 

RI Philharmonic on the Beach: Stop by the North Beach Clubhouse at Narragansett Beach tonight at 7:30 p.m. for a musical performance by The Notables, followed by the Rhode Island Philharmonic at 8:00! The free two-hour concert has been a time-honored tradition in Narragansett for 36 years. Come enjoy this wonderful concert with family and friends!

Plan Ahead - Environmental Awareness Day: On Saturday, July 13 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Town of Narragansett is partnering with the Rhode Island River Council to host the 10th Annual Environmental Awareness Day at Narragansett Town Beach. Environmental organizations from across the state will be on hand with informational displays to talk to beach-goers about RI's natural resources while offering fun and educational activities for kids.
