5 THINGS: A Great Holiday, A Great Birthday and Great States

Don’t let others badmouth Valentine’s Day, and other tidbits, in today’s Five Things.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Thursday, February 14, 2013:

Today is Valentine’s Day! If you’re just realizing this now and married, then it’s probably too late and you’re probably in trouble. Sorry!

Join the rotary club! They meet every Thursday at Liliana’s at 12:15 p.m. For more info, click here.

Has the time or date or details of one of your events changed? If you posted the event yourself on our site, then remember – You can always change the details if you’re logged into your Patch account. Failing that, leave a comment on the item in question! The issue is that lately, people have been e-mailing me, and depending on the time of the day, it can take me anywhere from 30 minutes or 30 hours to get to the item, unfortunately. As a result, I encourage you all to be as proactive as possible!

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Statehood Day in Arizona and Oregon. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know!

And then just 118 years later, there was the bananaphone. On this day in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell and Elisha Gray filed patents for the telephone.

Vanity corner alert! Hey, happy birthday to me! I’m 29 today. Of course, this is a completely newsworthy event and not an abuse of me being the editor of my own site.
