My Two Italies with Joseph Luzzi
Join us at Peace Dale Library on Tuesday, August 12, 4 PM, with Joseph Luzzi as he speaks about his new book My Two Italies.
Luzzi, the first American-born member of his Calabrian immigrant family, explores his complicated feelings about the land of his heritage. As a scholar of Dante, as well as of cinema and the contemporary scene, he examines his own family history and memories in the context of Italian politics and culture.
Joseph Luzzi is a professor of Italian at Bard College and a frequent contributor of essays and reviews to publications including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Bookforum, the London Times Literary Supplement. His first book, Romantic Europe and the Ghost of Italy (Yale Univ. Press 2008), received the Scaglione Prize for Italian Studies from the Modern Language Association). This is his fourth appearance at Peace Dale Library, and the only stop in southern Rhode Island on his book tour.
