URI Professor Celebration to Benefit LGBT Endowment (and 4 More Things)

    John Leo Career Celebration: From 5-7 p.m. this evening, the URI University Club (95 Upper College Rd., Kingston) will host 'A Celebration of the Career of John Leo', a beloved Professor of English at URI. Proceeds from the celebration will help fund the John Leo LGBT Veterans in the Humanities Endowment, which awards financial support for LGBT veterans from all branches of the US armed forces, and whose URI concentration is in the humanities. A $20 gift is suggested per person.

    Gansett Zoning Board: The Narragansett Zoning Board of Review will meet tonight at 6 p.m. in the large board room at Town Hall (25 Fifth Ave., Narragansett). Click here to view this evening's agenda.

    "Be Aggressive" at URI: Tonight, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., URI Theatre presents the drama, "Be Aggressive" by Annie Weisman in the Department's J Studio. The production, published in Smith and Kraus' Best Plays of 2001 and by Dramatists Play Service, is the offbeat telling of a classic tale of journey and catharsis in the complicated life of a teenage girl.     This Weekend - Jim Gaffigan at URI: On Saturday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m., the University of Rhode Island's Ryan Center will host comedian, Jim Gaffigan with a Special Guest.
