URI 'Play for P.I.N.K.' Charity Volleyball Game Tonight (and 4 More Things)

    Walk-A-While Wednesday: From 12-1 p.m. today and each Wednesday through Dec. 4, URI's College of Human Science and Services in partnership with the Dept. of Kinesiology will host "Walk-a-While on Wednesdays".The new health initiative will be led by Kinesiology walking coaches who will guide participants through various mapped paths each session. The names of people who participate in at least eight sessions will be entered in a raffle for a free pair of sneakers from Feet First Quality Footwear.

    URI vs. PC P.I.N.K. Volleyball: Come to Keaney Gym tomorrow at 7 p.m. to see URI's Girls Volleyball team host Providence College in the Play for P.I.N.K. breast cancer awareness game! The Play for P.I.N.K. organization has provided URI with 300 pink ribbons and 300 pink wristbands which the Rhode Island Breast Cancer Coalition will be selling for $1 during the game.     Ballroom Dance Lessons: Tonight and each Wednesday evening year-round, The Towers in Narragansett offers ballroom dance lessons led by instructors Sara Barker and Sue Davis. Ballroom lessons are held at 6 and 7 p.m., Tango at 8 p.m., followed by an open practice for all from 9-10:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per person for Ballroom or Tango, or $22 per person for a full evening. Click here for more information.

    SK Town Notice: The second quarterly installment of taxes assessed Dec. 31, 2012, is payable on or before Nov. 1, 2013. Interest will be charged from Aug. 1, 2013, if payment is not made when due. Mail payments to: Tax Collector, 180 High Street, Wakefield, RI 02879. Be sure to include your quarterly stub with your payment.

    This Weekend - SK Pumpkin Races: At 12:30 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 26, the South Kingstown Parks & Recreation Department will host the First Annual Pumpkin Races at the Curtis Corner Middle School playfields. Participants will decorate pumpkin, insert axles, attach wheels and race downhill against other pumpkins! Registration will be done on the day of the race. $5 per entry, $8 if kits are provided.
