The movie tells the heroic story of WWII PT-boat skippers John Brickley and Rusty Ryan who give the U.S. war effort time to regroup after the devastation of Pearl Harbor. They Were Expendable salutes all who expended themselves during some of the war's bleakest hours. (Starring John Wayne, Donna Reed and Robert Montgomery.)
