Free Music & Movement Class for Toddlers Today (and 4 More Things)

    Toddler Play at Pow! Science!: At 10 a.m. today, Kid's Music Play will offer a free music and movement class at Pow! Science!, located in the Wakefield Mall Shopping Center at 160 Old Tower Hill Road. The event is open to the public and intended for children 1-3 years old and their caregivers.     Walk-A-While Wednesday: From 12-1 p.m. today and each Wednesday through Dec. 4, URI's College of Human Science and Services in partnership with the Dept. of Kinesiology will host "Walk-a-While on Wednesdays".The new health initiative will be led by Kinesiology walking coaches who will guide participants through various mapped paths each session. The names of people who participate in at least eight sessions will be entered in a raffle for a free pair of sneakers from Feet First Quality Footwear.

    Business After Hours: Tonight from 5-7 p.m., the Southern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce and Museum of Primitive Art and Culture will host a joint Business After Hours at the Museum, located at 1058 Kingstown Road in Wakefield. Be sure to bring plenty of business cards to help you network with other local professionals! $5 per person. Click here to register.

    Ballroom Dance Lessons: Tonight and each Wednesday evening year-round, The Towers in Narragansett offers ballroom dance lessons led by instructors Sara Barker and Sue Davis. Ballroom lessons are held at 6 and 7 p.m., Tango at 8 p.m., followed by an open practice for all from 9-10:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per person for Ballroom or Tango, or $22 per person for a full evening. Click here for more information.

    URI Honors Colloquium - Elevating All Students: This evening at 7:30 p.m., the University of Rhode Island Honors Program will host the Honors Colloquium, "Elevating All Students", an address by Freeman Hrabowski, president, University of Maryland, Baltimore County. URI's 2013 Honors Colloquium explores how education still matters and debates key issues central to understanding the future of public schools and higher education. The free presentation will be held in Edwards Auditorium, located at 64 Upper College Rd., URI, Kingston. Click here for more information.
