'Free China: The Courage to Believe' Showing Tonight at URI (and 4 More Things)

    "Free China" Film Showing: At 7:30 p.m. this evening, The Center for Nonviolence & Peace Studies and the URI Student Nonviolence Coalition in collaboration with the Falun Dafa Association of RI present "Free China: The Courage to Believe". The engaging,  award-winning film tells the story of a mother and former Communist Party member, Jennifer Zeng, who along with more than 70 Million Chinese were practicing a belief that combined Buddhism and Daoism until the Chinese Government outlawed it and she was imprisoned for her faith. The showing will take place in Room 402 of Lippitt Hall (5 Lippitt Rd., URI, Kingston) is free and open to the public. Click here for more information.

    Computer Basics in Narragansett: From 11 a.m. to noon today, the Narragansett Public Library (35 Kingstown Road, Narragansett) will offer a free computer basics class for those just beginning to learn how to use a computer. An instructor will briefly go over the physical computer parts, how to power on and off, how to use the Start menu, how "Windows" works, and more. Users will also be allowed to practice using the mouse and keyboard. Note: This class does not include information on Apple products, only Microsoft.     Holiday Card Making: Tonight at 6:30 p.m., Waves of Creation, located at 271 Main Street in Wakefield, will offer a Holiday Card Making Class using Lawn Fawn stamps, papers, embellishments, glitter, watercolor pencils and more! $30 fee per person includes instruction and materials for five handmade cards. Space is limited, call (401) 284-3844 to register.
