Children's Day at Washington County Fair (and 4 More Things)

Patch's quick take on the essential things to know, the most interesting things to do and best places to be in Narragansett and South Kingstown on Thursday, Aug. 15.

    It's Fair Time! The 47th Annual Washington County Fair, the largest agricultural event in Rhode Island, began Wednesday and runs through Sunday at its Rte. 112 fairgrounds location in Richmond, RI. Today, Aug. 15 is Children's/Future Farmers of America Day, meaning kids can get a ride-all-day bracelet for the midway rides! Be sure to check out all the favorites like the tug-o-war, 4-H competitions and cow pie tossing contest! Click here for everything you need to know!

    Live Music and Dancing at The Towers: There will be live music and dancing at 7 p.m. tonight and every Thursday at The Towers in Narragansett this summer. All ages are welcome! Tonight's musical act is Superchief Trio featuring a unique combination of two-fisted piano, red hot trombone, blazing guitar, rock solid bass, powerful vocals and frenzied percussion antics. Swing, New Orleans R&B, jump blues, boogie-woogie - it's all in there! Tickets are $15 per person and may be purchased at the door.

    Jim Gaffigan at URI: On Saturday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m., the University of Rhode Island's Ryan Center will host comedian, Jim Gaffigan with a Special Guest.
