8 Community Flu Clinics in South Kingstown Today (and 4 More Things)

    Community Flu Clinics: From 1:30-4:30 p.m., today, Oct. 15, South County Hospital will host a number of local flu vaccination clinics in South Kingstown. Clinics will be held at South Kingstown High School, Wakefield Elementary, West Kingston Elementary, Broad Rock Middle, Peace Dale Elementary, Matunuck Elementary, Curtis Corner Elementary and Hazard School. Vaccinations will be available to individuals age 19 and older. Those with health insurance must bring proof of coverage. Click here for insurance and payment information.

    SK Farmers' Market: Skip the grocery store tonight and pick up some fresh fruits, veggies and baked goods at South Kingstown's outdoor Farmers' Market at Marina Park! From 2-6 p.m. each Tuesday through October, the Park will host the community market that also offers plants, handmade handbags and more. Click here for more information and to view a list of featured vendors.

    Public Education Forum: At 6:30 p.m. tonight, Diane Ravitch, research professor of education at New York University and author of the newly released book, Reign of Error: The Hoax of the Privatization Movement and the Danger to America’s Public Schools, will lecture at the University of Rhode Island. The forum is part of URI's 2013 Honors Colloquium and will take place in Edwards Auditorium on the Kingston Campus.

    URI Slow Food Market: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and every Tuesday in October, Slow Food URI will hold its Local Food Market on the Quad. The market offers something for everyone, featuring grub from Tallulah's Tacos, Bravo Wood-fired Pizza, Great Harvest and The Coffee Guy. Slow Food URI is an organization striving to create a food system with roots in nutrition, environmental stability and social justice. Click here to learn more about them!

    SK Town Notice: The second quarterly installment of taxes assessed Dec. 31, 2012, is payable on or before Nov. 1, 2013. Interest will be charged from Aug. 1, 2013, if payment is not made when due. Mail payments to: Tax Collector, 180 High Street, Wakefield, RI 02879. Be sure to include your quarterly stub with your payment.
