Climate Change, Coastal Geologic Hazards and Sea-level Rise

Join us on Sunday, January 27, as we start the winter speaker series On Pettaquamscutt: Presentations on the Environment and the History of the Narrow River Watershed, when geologist and NRPA Vice President for Science Dr. Jon Boothroyd discusses "Climate Change, Coastal Geologic Hazards and Sea-Level Rise: Some Rhode Island Strategies." 

Jon will describe what is happening to our coastline and the Narrow River Watershed and what can we do to adapt to the change.

On Pettaquamscutt is joint project of the Friends of Canonchet Farm, Narrow River Preservation Association, and South County Museum, with generous support from Trio Restaurant.

The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is on Sunday afternoon, January 27, from 1:00 to 3:00 at the Maury Loontjens Memorial Library, 35 Kingstown Road, Narragansett. After the talk, you are invited to continue the conversation next door at Trio Restaurant, 15 Kingstown Road. The Maury Loontjens Memorial Library serves as the official library for Narragansett. It was dedicated in Sept. 2007 to Loontjens, who was known his support and patronage of the library during his nine terms on the Narragansett Town Council and 10 years as town manager. The library has an obelisk outside honoring his contributions to the town.

This location provides approximately 63,000 books on a single floor, along with a specific room devoted to children's titles with a small play area. Movies, DVDs and Internet access is also available.
