Ceramics: Handbuilding with Slabs
In this 9-week version of this popular class, students will
have additional time to explore design and technique in slab construction while working on their own projects. Ornamentation like handles, knobs, and feet will be discussed, as well as surface decoration and glazing. Clay experience is helpful but not required. Bring ideas for projects you'd like to explore to the first week of class.
Instructor Anna Galloway Highsmith constructs meticulously detailed objects out of clay with her hands. She has a BFA from RISD and has been teaching hand building in southern New England for ten years. Her work can be seen at smallcraftadvisory.org.

More About South County Art Association
The South County Art Association may show contemporary artwork, yet its location in historic Kingston covers an appreciation for classical work as well.
The association, which opened in its current location in 1941, calls a structure erected in 1802 its home. While the exterior may look its age, inside, the gallery displays paintings, photographs, jewelery and sculptures that are much more current. The gallery is free to visit, and much of the artwork is available for purchase.
