The following colleges have sent us honors notices or releases about these students: - Alicia Richards, a Narragansett resident attending the Prout School, has been awarded a $14,000 scholarship to study occupational therapy at Alvernia University. The Presidential Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors with a minimum SAT score of 1130 (two portions) and a GPA of 3.5. - Paige Damle, a Wakefield resident attending Quinnipiac University, has been inducted into the Tau Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society for nursing. Damle was one of 48 students honored. - …
Two students have been named to area Dean’s Lists, and two students have graduated from local colleges, according to press releases we’ve received. Riley O’Brien of Saunderstown has graduated from Mount Ida College with a degree in American studies. Erin O’Brien of Wakefield has graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in criminal justice. So the other day, I ran a list of local Dean’s List honorees at the University of Rhode Island. The problem was, I forgot 23 people from West Kingston and Kingston! In true Rhode Island fashion, I only looked up the honorees from the South Kingstown, Narragansett and Saunderstown zip codes. And of course, West Kingston and Kingston has its own postal district. Congratulations and salutations are in order for 255 local residents, as the University of Rhode Island has released its dean’s list recipients for the Fall 2012 semester. To qualify, full-time students must maintain a 3.3 quality point average for 12 credits. Part-time students can also earn the distinction for a 3.3 average over multiple semesters once they surpass that 12 credit threshold.
