This post is very narrow-minded and ignorant. I have 4 kids an 8 yr.old, 6 yr old, 4 yr old andRead More newborn and have 3 pitbulls. My dog is well socialized and trained and has never showed aggression towards people or animals. Did I mention we have 2 cats as well. My pitbull has been attacked by a small ankle biter ripped her leg open causing her to need stitches and my dog didn't even defend herself. She just looked at me and cried. Rather making unfair prejudice assumptions they should do some research. These dogs just need responsible owners who are properly educated. People want these dogs who shouldn't and thats why they get a bad reputation. I was mauled by a Labrador but I don't judge all Labrador. My kids pull my pits tails climb on them take bones n food from them and my dogs just let it happen they enjoy their love and attention. If you dont raise a child right they do drugs and gang bang and hurt people n society the same goes for pitbulls. Raise them right socialization is key and they will be very good family dogs.

Pitbulls are VERY good dogs. let's outlaw the scumwad owners who raise them wrong and turn them bad

No, Alex. We believe God led (or inspired) various families, groups and individuals to come to HisRead More "Promised" or "chosen" land, reserved for a righteous people. The first family group thus described in the "Book of Mormon" as "led" by God, to what came to be known as the Americas, was the family of Lehi. Younger son Nephi and others were obedient to God's commands and blessed, while his brother Laman (and others) were lazy, jealous, disobedient and warred against the Nephites. God did not want the righteous Nephites to intermarry with the wicked Lamanites, so he cursed the latter with dark skin so that they would be visibly distinguished and separate.------------------------------------------- If you have more questions, please ask a Mormon friend, or invite Mormon missionaries in to answer them. Many FAQs are also on the website: www.mormon.org

My son-in-law never reads books that have been read by others, especially those coming from aRead More library, says they are full of germs! For him, it's either a new book or his kindle. That's a bit much to my way of thinking ... I'm an old-fashioned page turner, love the "aroma" that comes from books, especially those that have been well read. Altho, recently, I've had to resort to larger prints so may end up with a kindle after all.
BookOasis April 23, 2014 at 08:27 am
As the local bookstore in Stoneham we believe there is certainly room for both. I can count on oneRead More hand the number of customer we have lost to strictly e-readers. We still have plenty of e-reading customers of all ages that buy real books. Children's books are especially popular as the experience of having your child/grandchild sit on your lap and read/look at the pictures/turn the page cannot be replaced by a hard, boring device. E-readers definitely have the advantage at the gym. We recommend the Kobo Glo or Arc for paperwhite devices: no ads, lightest weight device available, dozens of fonts and font sizes, notes, dictionary and the charge lasts at least 30 DAYS! Used books are more environmentally friendly: saves a tree, no batteries, recycles over and over again and is completely recyclable when at its end-of-life, and at least half the price of an average e-book. They are also more comfortable to hold as they are more flexible. Readers are more likely to finish a real book than an e-book because there is a physical sense of where you are in the book (only 2 more chapters - yay!). Finally, when you purchase an e-book you are telling a big corporation a lot about yourself, they track every title you VIEW or purchase. Privacy doesn't exist on an electronic device. You may also find that your purchases are more like loans; titles can disappear at the whim of the provider or if distribution rights are lost. Either way - we are so happy people are reading no matter how they do it!

@Anna, most e-readers do allow you to adjust the size of the print. Personally I use an androidRead More tablet with apps to read material. There's an Amazon Kindle app so you can get at eBooks on Amazon that you bought, as well as other apps for other media. My preference has been for subscription material such as local newspaper and magazines; books I prefer paper. Most of the time I read this site on my tablet as it connects to the internet through Wi-Fi. I have not researched the Kobo Glo or Arc that @BookOasis mentions. The drawback to most android tablets is that they have shorter battery life (need to recharge mine at least once a day), and screen is not very good in the bright sunlight.

Mad as hell... April 22, 2014 at 11:28 pm
Savecritters...I appreciate your concern but like I said you may want to make sure your homeownersRead More insurance will cover that dog. When you're on the receiving end of a pit bull dog's attack it's hard to fathom the logic in owning one.
Savecritters....you lost the argument as soon as you wrote "...owned by countless movieRead More stars..." What the hell does that prove?

And the Bible says.....take the log out of your own eye so that you can see well enough to take theRead More speck out of your brother's eye. It also says not to judge, or you will be judged; and the measure by which you judge will be measured to you. Since Christie Nicole believes in the judgment day....it's gonna suck to be you!

Christie (n), we’re not grasping your philosophy and standards because they are nonsensical.Read More Promiscuity and sexual orientation are two separate things. Heterosexuals can be promiscuous and suffer the consequences (see Magic Johnson), and gay people can be as monogamous as you are.

Oh Christie - I was so anticipating you coming back with a story on just how much you've struggled,Read More and how much compassion you really do have for others. Because we've all struggled, right? But no, all I get is "it's gonna suck to be you!" This is how you convince me that you care for others??? So much for our bonding moment...

Definitely will add these to my long, long list of "to reads". Maybe I'll live longRead More enough to get to them all. Just finished an oldie but goodie ... but you know? The stories only stay with me for a while, I read so much that I forget what I've already read and after the first few pages, I get into it again and often continue since I liked it the first time around. There will never be enough hours in any day to read all I want to and thank goodness and God for Goodreads and, of course, my library and you, Danielle, for adding to my lists. Was offered a Kindle but know what? I really prefer to hold that book in my lap to read, plus I prefer to use my library ... it's FREE, for goodness sake, why would I pay to read anything but a newspaper? And, even that can be gotten at the library. If nothing else, I just love the smell of a library! (Sorry for my longwinded-ness ... just love, love books.)
Mamie Huggins April 20, 2014 at 08:37 am
Hey Anna - I'm a book lover too and use the library on occasion. But it's not FREE as you say, it'sRead More paid for by us taxpayers. Also, when I buy a book, especially by an unknown and/or local author, I'm helping that person to keep writing.
Anna Bucciarelli April 20, 2014 at 05:48 pm
Of course you're right Mamie but if I don't have to part with an additional penny from my pocket IRead More feel it's a treat. And you're right too about keeping authors writing I especially like books by new, first-time novelists who often surprise me with the wonder of their words.

Fake Boss Hogg. Kinda funny coming from a guy that picked "Almost Brilliant" as a handleRead More a week ago...
Notbricktrash April 22, 2014 at 01:04 pm
This guy is psycho I see all negative posts on this breed. Us all who are for the breed let's postRead More positive things. This guy has no life obviously to sit and pick apart a breed. My dad was a meter reader in the day he was attacked and bitten 9 times on different occasions. 2 of them were German sheps, rest were ankle biters. ALL dogs bite. My parents were ignorant with pit bulls I remember my neighbors bf had them in my yard when I was a kid and my moms screaming they are vicious get inside. (They were sweet dogs) that goes with them being uneducated about the breed. They witnessed my neighbors pit mauling the neighbors small dog (their dog was nice until the crack heads put him in a cage 24/7) they are like till recently they are dangerous blah blah blah and know what I educated them I now rescued a pit lab who is a big baby and whom my parents adore. I cross post animals all over and many are pit bulls. They say 1 of 600 finds homes. It's sad cause in my dad's years of meter reading not one pit bull attacked him. 2 days in a row I saw 2 pits running in and out of traffic on a main road by my house. Almost hit them. I got out of my car called them over (had no fear as if it were a smaller dog or a shep) they came to me I grabbed their collars and what did they do? They licked me. I'm in school to be an nj Animal control officer and an associates in vet tech and I can bet you in my life I will support the pit breed in some successful way. I will never hate the breed or judge them. I've got bitten by a smaller dog breed do I judge them? No. So educate before you discriminate

If you’re like most Americans, you’ve probably always wanted to get a degree from theRead More prestigious Brown University, but are concerned about that institution’s well-known Marxist-Communist ideology and don’t want to be brainwashed while trying to get your degree . Well, your day is just about to be made, because now you can get a degree online from Beck University, founded by Glenn Beck! Beck University is an august body of higher learning; you can tell because of its extremely official looking logo.
