Today: In Like a Lion, Give Blood and Wilt

It's the first day of March - here are some things to bear in mind.

Have a thrilling Thursday, Narragansett, and check out today's things to know:

Snow - March came in like a lion yesterday, and it'll still be making some noise as a winter storm winds down this afternoon. There's a winter storm watch in effect until 6 p.m.

Give blood - There's a blood drive going on today at Starbuck's Coffee in Wakefield from 4 to 7 p.m.

Magazines for schools - Got an expiring subscription to Readers Digest or Redbook or Car and Driver? Renew it here and send some of the purchase price back to the Narragansett school system.

April vacation - Sure, February vacation is still barely fading memory - that's no reason not to start making plans for April vacation, is it? We don't think so. Neither does the Parks and Recreation Department. April Vacation Camp starts April 16

Wilt the Stilt: On this day in 1972, Wilt Chamberlain became the first NBA player to score 30,000 points, according to Brainyhistory.com.

About this column: Check out these five awesome things! Yay! (Also, tell five friends, and get them to tell five friends, and then hopefully their five friends will tell five friends and...) Related Topics: 5 things you should know today and Snow
