On an illuminated Quad Thursday night on URI's campus, the annual rail jam was held in benefit of the Rhode Island Food Pantry. The cost of registration was the donation of three canned goods, and a raffle was held to raise money for the URI Surf Club's planned humanitarian trip to Nicaragua. Also sponsoring the event was the Nonviolence Institute, an on-campus organization that helps at risk urban youth take to the mountain and promote positive influence.

Musical entertainment for the evening was donated by The Sticker Party, and all rail jam equipment was brought out by Yawgoo Valley Ski Area. Lasting well into the evening, good cheer and a jovial mood helped the crowd battle the cold.
