Spots Remain in Jimmy Baron Hoops Clinic

The 'Shoot Like a Pro' clinic is slated for Saturday, June 30 at Bishop Hendricken.

A few spots still remain available for the upcoming Shoot Like A Pro clinic Saturday, June 30 at Bishop Hendricken High School.

The one-day basketball clinic is open to boys and girls, 9 to 18 years old. Former URI standout Jimmy Baron and current NBA trainer Rob McClanaghan will direct the Shoot Like A Pro clinic.

Baron, the former Atlantic 10 First Team Selection who was the top 3-point shooter in the conference during his four years with the Rams, is currently playing professionally in Spain in the ACB, one of the top leagues in Europe. For the past two years, Baron has led the ACB in 3-pointers.

McClanaghan trains some of the top professional basketball players in the NBA, including 2011 MVP Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love and Kevin Durant. McClanaghan’s work with Westbrook was recently highlighted in Sports Illustrated (June 14, 2012) and on DeadSpin.com (June 12, 2012).

McClanaghan has worked with Baron on his game. Now the two have teamed to host the Shoot like a Pro Clinic.

“Our goal of the clinic is for all participants to have a great experience, enhance their skills and learn more about the game of basketball. We’re going to work hard, but we’re going to have a good time. It’s going to be a lot of fun. That’s our focus,” said McClanaghan, a graduate of Hendricken and Syracause University.

The clinic will feature the following and more:

  • Fundamentals of shooting
  • Shooting off screens
  • Shooting off dribble
  • Shooting against defense
  • 3-point shooting

McClanaghan will also incorporate some of the same drills he runs with his NBA clients, including Rose and Westbrook, and implement an actual NBA workout.
