SKHS Student Charged With 3rd Domestic
Matthew Sklarski, 18, is charged with violating a no-contact order for a second time, his third arrest.
Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the South Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Matthew K. Sklarski, 18, of 44 Mulberry Drive, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 2:11 a.m. on Dec. 22 and charged with violating a no-contact order.
According to police, at about 1:54 a.m. on Dec. 22 they received a report of a couple arguing at an apartment building in the South County Commons. Police said that two witnesses told them that they heard yelling, and then what sounded like someone punching a wall.
Police said when they went to the apartment in question, an 18-year-old woman answered the door, crying and upset. Based on previous incidents at the same address, police asked the woman if Sklarski was there.
According to police, the woman initially resisted answering questions, before telling them that Sklarski was hiding in the other room. Police said when they found Sklarski, he was arrested without incident, although he told police that the no-contact order had been quashed.
Police said a background check was performed, and it confirmed that the no-contact order had not been dropped.
Based on the time of Sklarski’s arrest, police said it was difficult to find a bail commissioner to arraign him in front of him. Police said five commissioners were called between 8:50 a.m. and 10:10 a.m., with the fifth finally able to respond.
Police said Sklarski was arraigned before a justice of the peace at about 10:50 a.m. and then transferred to the ACI at about 12:21 p.m. He was scheduled to appear in Fourth Division District Court on Dec. 24.

A hearing for all three of Sklarski’s charges is scheduled for Jan. 24 at Fourth Division District Court.
