SK Residents Win Titles At 2012 Pitch, Hit and Run

McKenzie Laboeuf, Alexandrea Goodness, Jack Wentworth and Gregory Ballinger each took home Pitch, Hit and Run honors at McCoy Stadium.

South Kingstown residents McKenzie Laboeuf, Alexandrea Goodness, Jack Wentworth and Gregory Ballinger each took home state titles in the 2012 Pitch, Hit and Run competition during a recent on-field pre-game awards ceremony at McCoy Stadium. 

McKenzie was the Running champion for the 13-14 year old division; Alexandrea was the Best All-Around State Champion for the 13-14 year old division; Jack was the Running champion for the 9-10 year old division; and Gregory was the Best All-Around State Champion for the 13-14 year old division.

Hosted by Dunkin’ Donuts, the Pawtucket Red Sox and CW 28, Pitch, Hit and Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball.  The program provides boys and girls across the country, ages 7 to 14, with the opportunity to participate in an exciting baseball skills competition, showcasing their pitching, hitting and running abilities.

Competitions were held throughout the state in the spring, and an All-Around Champion, a Pitching Champion, a Hitting Champion and a Running Champion in each age group (7 to 8, 9 to 10, 11 to 12 and 13 to 14) were named. Winners advanced to the Sectional Championship at McCoy Stadium.  Winners of the Sectional Championship competed in the Team Championship at Fenway Park, followed by the National Finals during All-Star week.
