SK Police Log: October 23, 24 and 25, 2012
A South Kingstown man is charged with cyberstalking, and an Ashaway man is charged with writing 11 fraudulent checks.
Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the South Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
South Kingstown Man Charged With Domestic Vandalism, Cyberstalking
James V. Horiagon, 46, of 330 Willard Ave., South Kingstown, was arrested at about 5:57 a.m. on Oct. 25 and charged with domestic vandalism, domestic disorderly conduct and domestic cyberstalking.
According to police, a warrant had been issued for Horiagon’s arrest based on an incident earlier in the day involving a 45-year-old South Kingstown woman and two minors. Details were unavailable.
Police said an officer checked Horiagon’s home and arrested him without incident.
South Kingstown Man Arrested for Superior Court Warrant After Running
Lorenzo M. Smith, 28, of 5A School Lane, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 3:35 p.m. on Oct. 25. Police said a Superior Court warrant was out for Smith’s arrest.
According to police, an officer saw Smith walking near Kingston Pizza and believed that he had a warrant out for his arrest. Police said the officer confirmed the warrant, and attempted to arrest Smith.
Police said Smith instead ran north up the bike path, and into Fagan Park. The officer caught up with him in the park and used a short burst of pepper spray to subdue Smith, police said.
Smith was processed at headquarters and transported to the ACI at about 5:25 p.m.
Ashaway Man Charged With Writing 11 Bad Checks
Eric Merill Locke, 25, of 135 Diamond Hill Road, Ashaway, was arrested at about 9:34 a.m. on Oct. 24 and charged with 11 counts of writing a fraudulent check, value less than $1,000.
According to police, they received reports from Belmont Market and Job Lot of Locke writing bad checks from Feb. 2 to Feb. 20. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Westerly police arrested Locke for similar charges on Oct. 24. After they processed Locke, he was picked up by South Kingstown police and charged with an additional 11 counts. He was processed and then released at about 2 p.m.
South Kingstown Man Charged With Trespassing
Curtis J. Hicks, 56, of Church Street in South Kingstown, was arrested at about 8:25 p.m. on Oct. 25 and charged with trespassing.
According to police, Hicks was found sleeping behind a business on High Street, despite a no-trespass order. Police confirmed that the order was active and arrested Hicks without incident. A woman sleeping with Hicks in the area was told to leave.
Hicks was processed and held overnight for arraignment at Fourth Division District Court on Oct. 26.
