Police: Passenger Passes Out During Arrest

URI Student Charged With Possession of Marijuana; Passenger Passes Out
Zackary Chadwick, 19, of 22 Balsam Lane, Smithfield, was arrested at about 8 p.m. on Feb. 15 and charged with possession of marijuana. Police said Chadwick is a student at the University of Rhode Island.
According to police, an officer clocked a white Chevrolet Impala driven by Chadwick at 41 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone on Route 108. A traffic stop was made as a result.
Police said that during the stop, the car smelled strongly of marijuana. Police said a search of the car revealed several marijuana cigarettes, a grinder and a pipe.
According to police, while processing Chadwick, the car’s passenger – a 19-year-old Seekonk woman – briefly passed out. Police said South Kingstown EMS was called and treated the woman, but she refused a transport to a hospital.
Police said Chadwick was processed and then released at about 9:15 p.m.
South Kingstown Man Arrested for Warrant
Jason T. Reed, 38, of 780 Glen Rock Road, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 10:23 p.m. on Feb. 14. Police said a Westerly police warrant was out for Reed’s arrest.
According to police, they responded to Reed’s home and arrested him without incident. Police said the warrant was issued under the 24-hour domestic statute, and Westerly police picked Reed up at about 11:05 p.m.
