Police Log: Not A Laughing Matter
The following reports were provided by the South Kingstown Police Department and describe their actions from Monday, Jan. 23 through the early morning hours of Friday, Jan. 27. These reports do not indicate a conviction.
South Kingstown Police arrested Susan E. Hemmalin, 48, of 345 Willard Ave., Wakefield, on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 3:16 a.m. on a charge of driving under the influence, first offense, BAC greater than .15. Police stopped Hemmalin’s car on Route 1 for speeding and reportedly smelled alcohol. When police asked Hemmalin to hand over her license, registration, and insurance, she allegedly laughed and didn’t give it up until after the third time officers requested it.
She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 2.
Suspended License
Abdul Rahman A. Orulebaja, 22, of 91 Burnside St., Providence, was arrested on Monday, Jan 23 at 11:15 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after police stopped him for speeding on Route 138. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 2.
Possession of Marijuana
Megan M. Foreman, 25, of 37 Skagerrak Road, Charlestown, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 12:01 a.m. and charged with possession of marijuana, first offense. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 2.
No Contact Order Violation
Walter E. Hulton, 73, of 2891 South County Trail, South Kingstown, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 6:36 p.m. and charged with domestic violation of a no contact order. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 9.
Possession of Marijuana
Kayla A. Sheldon, 24, of 8 French Road, Kingston, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 8:12 p.m. and charged with possession of marijuana, first offense. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 9.
Shawna V. James, 18, of 247 Old North Road, Kingston, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 10:45 p.m. and charged with possession of marijuana, first offense. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 9.
BK Vandals
A Burger King employee reported on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 6:49 a.m. that someone broke a pane of glass to one of the doors of the restaurant. Police estimate the damage to cost $400. Police will review surveillance footage of the door to see if the perpetrator was caught on tape.
Suspended License
Tammy Lee Silva, 36, of 480 South County Trail Lot Apt. 2-32, Exeter, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 12:45 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 9.
Multiple Charges
Virginia A. Allen, 24, of 11 Harbor St., Jamestown, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 27 at 12:57 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license. She also had an active bench warrant for her arrest from the Third Division District Court for failure to appear for a payment review. Police stopped Allen’s silver BMW on Route 1 for speeding and later determined her license was suspended. She also had no proof of insurance or registration. When police checked the license plates through the state Department of Motor Vehicles, it showed they belonged to a gold Pontiac registered to her mother. She was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court later that day.
