Narragansett Police Log: September 24, 25 and 26, 2012
A man is warned for drunken dancing at 2 a.m., and another is arrested for possession of marijuana.

URI Student Charged With Possession of Marijuana
Dalton J. Leonhardt, 21, of 178 South Pier Road, Apt. #A, Narragansett, was arrested at about 12:58 a.m. on Sept. 25 and charged with possession of marijuana. Police said Leonhardt is a student at the University of Rhode Island.
According to police, an officer traveling behind Leonhardt’s car on Kinney Avenue noted that it had a defective rear plate light. A traffic stop was made on Gibson Avenue near Kinney Avenue.
Police said that the car smelled of marijuana, and when asked about the odor, Leonhardt handed them a grocery bag with a small plastic baggie inside of it with marijuana in it.
According to police, the marijuana was confiscated and Leonhardt was arrested without incident. He was processed at police headquarters and then released at about 2:09 a.m. His car was towed from the scene.
URI Student on Motorcycle Cited for Suspended License
Reid L. Rosaki, 20, of 7 Defelice Road, Narragansett, was cited at about 10:40 a.m. on Sept. 25 and charged with driving with a suspended license. Police said Rosaki is a student at the University of Rhode Island.
According to police, an officer noted Rosaki on a motorcycle without eye protection or a helmet on Maplehurst Drive. The officer said that as he got closer to the motorcycle, he also noted that the sticker on the plate expired on June 30.
Police said a traffic stop was made near the Salt Pond Plaza as a result. A background check also revealed that Rosaki’s license was suspended.
Rosaki was cited for the license violation, as well as driving with an expired registration. He was warned for the helmet and eye protection violations, since he was under the age of 21. The motorcycle was moved from the scene by a family member.
Echoes of Footloose – Drunken Man Warned for Dancing
At about 2:05 a.m. on Sept. 24, police received a report of a man dancing in the middle of the street near the intersection of Boon and Rodman.
Police said they found a 38-year-old Hopkinton man matching the caller’s description in that area. They noted that the man was hiding near some bushes and appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
According to police, the man also denied moving a four-foot wooden post into the intersection. A background check revealed no active warrants, and police said that man was not currently causing a disturbance when they arrived.
Police said they were able to get a friend’s name out of the man, and he was transported to the friend’s residence on Boon Street for the night. No arrests were made.
