According to police, an officer driving behind a blue Toyota noticed it swerving on Boston Neck Road near Starr Drive. As a result, a traffic stop was made near the Dunes Club.

Police noted that Maclean was rummaging through her purse when officers knocked on the window to ask for her license and registration. Police said that when Maclean did finally open the window after a delay of about 15 seconds, her car smelled overwhelming of freshly-sprayed perfume.

According to police, Maclean’s eyes were bloodshot and watery. They said she attributed her erratic driving to her car’s alignment being off.

Police said they asked Maclean to consent to field sobriety tests. Police noted that once Maclean was out of her car, they could smell alcohol emanating from her breath. Police said Maclean failed field sobriety tests and refused to submit to a breath test, at which point she was arrested.

Police noted that there was a passenger in the car at the time, the teenage daughter of a friend of Maclean. The parents of the girl were called and picked the girl up from the scene. An officer watched the girl until her parents arrived.

According to police, at headquarters Maclean refused to submit to a chemical test. Police said that at about 11:58 p.m., Maclean said she was having an asthma attack, and she was treated by Narragansett Fire Department personnel.

She was processed and then released at about 12:45 a.m.
