Fry's Sentencing Postponed Until April
Sentencing for Kimberly Fry, convicted of murder, has been postponed until late April.
Sentencing for convicted murderer Kimberly Fry has been pushed back once again, according to the Providence Journal.
Judge William Carnes, who presided over Fry's murder trial last fall, agreed to postpone her sentencing from March 23 to April 30. The five-week postponement gives Judith Crowell, who was appointed by Carnes last month after Fry dismissed her then-attorney Joseph Salvadore, more time to prepare.
Fry fired Salvadore during an emotional hearing last month in which she declared, "I am not a murderess." Fry appointed Salvadore after dismissing public defenders Sarah Wright and John Lavoy, who represented her last fall when Fry was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of her daughter, in January.
Fry strangled 8-year-old Camden in their North Kingstown home at 73 Ricci Lane in August 2009, reportedly while the young girl threw a temper tantrum over not wanting to take a bath. After a months-long trial, a jury found 38-year-old Fry guilty of second-degree murder after five hours of deliberation.
The penalty for second-degree murder ranges from 10 years to life in the Adult Correctional Institutes in Cranston. If she is sentenced to life in prison, Fry would be eligible for parole in 2031.

This woman is in obvious need of mental health treatment. What she did to her daughter...and why she did it, is proof enough of that. I do not know whether or not her issues are being, or have been, addressed. It's difficult for me to believe that her husband/family/friends were not aware of her illness before it led to the vile act that culminated in murder. From what I understand of Fry's history, she was, in fact, a major 'germaphobe'. I would have to imagine that her poor little girl suffered at the hands of Mrs. Fry many times before her demise. Mrs. Fry does deserve to serve time. I hope that she also receives treatment. The murder of her daughter was horrific, but certainly not premeditated.
