SK and Gansett Election Night Live Blog!

Exercise your civic right to vote! A slew of local races are hotly contested.

Hey listen, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but there’s an election today, Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

(And if you don’t know, it must mean you don’t have a mail box, or own a TV, or drive, since all those mediums have been splattered with a ridiculous amount of advertising for several months now.)

Not sure where your polling place is, or who you’re even voting for? Well, that’s not a great sign. But you can look it up by going here, to the Secretary of State’s website, and they have a neat lookup method. Sample ballots are also available, in case you want to practice before hitting the polls.

For the full voter guide, see the attached PDF. This guide includes the full text for the seven state ballot questions. If you’re unfamiliar with the town-specific issues, the ballot questions are posted at each poll location.

Most polls in South County, and in Rhode Island, open at 7 a.m. All polls close at 8 p.m., an hour reduction from past years.

REMEMBER! You need ID to vote this year. For more information, check out an article by Liz McNamara here.

Much like the first Presidential debate, we will have a Rhode Island-wide political chat. For that, click here. (NOTE: This link might not be available until 2 p.m., when the chat goes live.)

We will ALSO have a South Kingstown and Narragansett-specific chat tonight, starting around 8 p.m., for those results. I will be at South Kingstown Town Hall, and Brooke Constance White will be at Narragansett Town Hall.

Q: Where will the chat be? A: Right here! You can queue up questions or comments around 7:30 p.m., and the chat room will be open until around 11 p.m.

Q: I totally won’t remember that, can you remind me? A: We can’t, but Cover It Live can! See the above box.

Q: Hey, I just want the vote totals! A: Hey, that’s not a question! But if you don’t want to follow along with the chat, we will have charts below.
