Coach Danny Hurley and the University of Rhode Island men’s basketball will look for their first win of the year this weekend, at the Hall of Fame Tipoff Classic at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT.
However, it’ll be a tough task for the Rams. Today, they play Ohio State (1-0) at 5 p.m. On Sunday, the Rams play either Seton Hall (2-0) or Washington (1-1). All three are power, BCS conference teams.

The Rams last played on Monday, and lost 69-50 at Virginia Tech. Xavier Munford shot 10-for-13 from 2-point range and finished with 24 points. Mike Aaman had seven rebounds off the bench in 23 minutes.
URI did get some positive news this week though. Hassan Martin and E.C. Mathews signed National Letters of Intent for the 2013-14 season. According to a Scout.com release posted by GoRhody, the recruiting class ranks as No. 8 overall among all non-BCS schools.
