Blog For Narragansett Patch!

We want people with dynamic, unique opinions that will change lives. Failing that, how about you just tell a joke or two?

Beginning May 4, Narragansett Patch will be featuring the work of bloggers on the site, because we’re kind of awesome like that.

Well, okay – The official justification is that we're looking for bloggers who can riff on various topics, share their personality and engage our readers in discussions. So, it is more than just us being awesome (although that is no doubt true).

Patch is more than a news site: it's an online conversation about your community.

  • Are you passionate about Narragansett's core issues?
  • Are you an expert craftsman or hobbyist who can share do-it-yourself tips?
  • Do you have strong opinions about local government?
  • Can you just make us all laugh?
  • Can you write compellingly?
  • Do you have strong opinions on who would win in a fight between a T-Rex, a raptor, a bear and the South Kingstown Mountain Lion?

Then, we want to hear from you. Especially if it’s about that mountain lion thing.

This isn't a reporting job. It's blogging. You write what you want to say when you want to say it. Do it on your schedule, whether that's posting multiple entries per day or a couple times a month.

Patch bloggers are not paid and will own their blogs, so if you are already blogging and want to share with our readers, too, let us know. This is a chance to share your expertise and opinions with a wider audience!

Patch won't own what you post, so you can repost your entries to your other blogs. Much like The Huffington Post has done, Patch is providing local bloggers an online platform to have their words seen by a larger audience.

Be interesting. Be provocative. Be yourself.

We're looking for parents, teachers, coaches, students, pet lovers, bartenders, food lovers, volunteers, sports fans, aspiring comedians, musicians, you name it. All ages are welcome – You can be a high school student, or even a Pier School or NES student.

My role as editor would be to review blog entries submitted to Narragansett Patch to ensure there are no libelous claims. I might correct obvious typos, however, I might also leave them in if they are funny.

If you'd like to chat about the opportunity to share your unique voice with our readers, let me know by emailing Stephen.greenwell@patch.com.

Note: I modified an original post by North Kingstown Local Editor Samantha Turner from . However, because she’s a co-worker, she can’t do anything about it. It’s like I have diplomatic immunity, just like in Lethal Weapon II. Mwhahah.
