5 THINGS: Novelists, Hitchcock and Marko Jaric

Shake off that sleepiness from staying up to watch the debate, or baseball, with these great activities.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Friday, October 12, 2012:

“Revenge is sweet and not fattening.” – Alford Hitchcock. The Haunted Courthouse opens at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10. Not enough haunting fun times for you? Check out the Haunts of Little Rest Hill with the Pettaquamscutt Historical Society at 7:30 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. for $15.

Mmm, fresh produce! The Goddard State Park Farmers’ Market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Freethought Day. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know!

Maybe it just ran into some of the women from there. On this day in 1994, NASA lost contact with the Magellan spacecraft as it entered Venus’s harsh atmosphere.

You don’t need a happy birthday – you’ve already won. Marko Jaric turns 34 today. He’s known for being a marginal NBA player who’s made more than $20 million, and he’s also married to supermodel Adriana Lima. (Guess which thing causes more envy.)
