5 THINGS: Happy Birthday George Washington, Dr. Dre

Two similar guys celebrate their birthday today.

Here are the Five Things for Monday, February 18, 2013:

Hey, it’s Presidents’ Day and Washington’s Birthday! Although local schoolchildren don’t have school anyway because of February vacation, keep in mind that several businesses are closed today as well because it’s a federal holiday. (Specifically, the post office.) Also, we don’t really have any events on our event calendar because of the holiday.

Has the time or date or details of one of your events changed? If you posted the event yourself on our site, then remember – You can always change the details if you’re logged into your Patch account. Failing that, leave a comment on the item in question! The issue is that lately, people have been e-mailing me, and depending on the time of the day, it can take me anywhere from 30 minutes or 30 hours to get to the item, unfortunately. As a result, I encourage you all to be as proactive as possible!

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know!

They felt our pain for just a single day. On this day in 1979, snow fell in the Sahara Desert, the only recorded time in human history.

His real name is Andre, hence the shortening when he got his medical degree. Happy 48th birthday to Dr. Dre!
