Here are the (more than) Five Things for Friday, November 9, 2012:
The snozzberries STILL taste like snozzberries! The Contemporary Theater Company presents Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at 7 p.m. at South Kingstown High School. Tickets are $10.
Sports fever, catch it! There are two notable sporting events today:
- Narragansett football has rallied from early season struggles, and now sits at 3-3 in Division III play. The Mariners host Classical (3-4 Division III) at 7 p.m. under the lights at Curtis Corner Middle School. Beating Classical would eliminate them from the playoffs. The Mariners hold the tiebreaker against No. 5 Ponaganset (3-3 Division III), who they already beat this year.
- URI men’s basketball starts their regular season tonight. Our live chat starts at 6:45 p.m., and the game starts at 7 p.m.
Need help with your book? The “bring your book to life” program is at 9 a.m. near Narragansett Town Beach. Make sure you contact Lisa Tener ahead of time.
Looking for gift options? The South County Artisan’s Market is scheduled for the Fantastic Umbrella Factory from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why, I never! There is a royal manners class with Belle from Beauty and the Beast at 11 a.m. The cost is $15.
Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s World Freedom Day. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).
Give the gift of food this holiday season. Children’s Dentistry of Wakefield is having a food drive from now until Dec. 19. For more info, click here.
Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know!
And imagine how our lives would be without it! On this day in 1994, Darmstadtium was discovered.
Hey buddy, at least someone is thinking of you today <3 Happy 34th birthday to Sisqo!
