5 Things: Holidays Arrive in SK
Here are 5 Things to know for today, Dec. 16.
1. This isn't your Papa's "A Christmas Carol!" In a wacky and witty update to the classic Dickens tale by Christopher Durang, a magic mishap brings the Ghost and Ebenezer to the neurotic Mrs. Crachit, who's just about had it with the Dickensian life. The show stars local actors Terry Simpson, Kevin Killavey, Amy Lee Connell, Amelia Giles, and a whole host of other bookkeepers and orphans! Check out the show tonight at 7 p.m. at the Towers, 35 Ocean Road, Narragansett.
2. It's all holidays all the time in SK. Check out Home for The Holidays, a special variety show with songs, stories and surprises at The Courthouse Center for the Arts, 3481 Kingstown Road. The event is free but donations are welcome for charity.
There are four more shows scheduled:
- Today at 7 pm.
- Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
- Sunday, Dec.18 at 2 p.m.
3. While you're in the holiday spirit, why not help give South Kingstown schools a huge gift — $100,000. Enter your house is Patch's Deck The House contest for a shot at one of several $500 cash prizes and the grand prize.
4. Support the Girls' Varsity Basketball team at this evenings home game against Westerly High School at 7 p.m. at South Kingstown High School, 215 Columbia St. Click here for a complete schedule of the North Kingstown Girls' Varsity Basketball Game Schedule.
5. The warmer weather should continue today under sunny skies, with temperatures in the low-50s. The weekend is looking a bit cooler, however, with high temps dipping into the 30s.
